YOUR BEST CHESS (YBC) delivers a Chess experience like no other.  Our name defines who we are, what we do, how we do it and who we do it for--every student, every class, every semester, every scholastic tournament and every camp.  Our approach is based on 60 years of combined playing/teaching experience--training Chess students of all ages and skill levels.  The YBC program is designed to challenge every student.  We have developed a fun, interesting, proven, interactive curriculum--including class tournaments--enhancing the skills necessary to succeed in both Chess and life's daily challenges.  Are you ready?

Our classes engage every skill level at local elementary and middle schools.

We offer an outstanding Area-Wide Tournament each year in late April.

Your Best Chess provides camps during the months of June, July and August.  All camps are Half-Day for a three-hour period. Our camps run in the morning (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.).  No matter the skill level (Complete Beginner to Advanced), students will have an exciting time as they: Learn the game of Chess, develop new strategies/skills, gain self-confidence, enjoy a great "class tournament" experience, and tap into their amazing brains WITHOUT the use of a "screen"! YBC Camps are fun, interesting and challenging...no boredom will be found at any of our camps! Summer 2024 info below:

Sign up for an “In-Person” YBC class in your area.

Every one-hour class consists of a structured lesson for all four (4) of our identifiable skill levels. Each group is given ample time to play actual games. We try to make each class as fun, interesting and challenging as possible. Plenty of time is allocated for questions and answers at the end of each class to reinforce what has been taught that day.

Our final class in every session is what we refer to as "Tournament Medal Day". All of our chess players will engage in a three-round tournament followed by the presentation of medal that everyone will have earned! That’s right…each student will be rewarded with a medal by simply demonstrating that they are actively learning chess! What could serve as a better learning environment?

YBC’s Area-Wide Scholastic Tournament

Your Best Chess offers an outstanding Area-Wide Five-Round Tournament each year in April.  Tournaments are a phenomenal experience for any youngster--offering wonderful growth/learning opportunities. We strongly encourage this type of participation for both individuals and teams!!!

PLEASE NOTE: ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS FROM THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA ARE REPRESENTED IN EACH TOURNament. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR ENTRANTS TO BE CURRENT YBC STUDENTS.
